Shipping to Europe (EU): VAT, Import Fees & Customs

We ship from Indonesia by DHL Express. Orders to European Union countries are currently shipped duties and taxes unpaid. This means import VAT and other import charges are not included in the price you pay at checkout. DHL will contact you to pay them before delivery.

What you may need to pay on delivery

  • Import VAT at your country's rate, calculated on the value of the goods plus shipping. Many EU countries use a reduced VAT rate for live plants (for example about 9% in the Netherlands and 7% in Germany). Other products use the standard rate, usually 19–25%.
  • Customs duty, where applicable. Since 1 July 2026, low-value parcels (under €150) entering the EU are no longer fully exempt from customs duty.
  • DHL clearance fee, charged by DHL for paying the import charges on your behalf.
  • Plant health inspection fees for live plants in some countries, charged by your national plant protection authority (for example the NVWA in the Netherlands). These fees are set by your country, not by ORAMICIN, and can be significant.

Example

€100 of plants plus €30 shipping to Germany: import VAT at 7% is about €9, plus any customs duty, the DHL clearance fee and any plant inspection fee.

Before you order

  • Check with your local customs office or plant protection authority whether live plants need an import inspection in your country and what it costs.
  • Make sure your phone number and email are correct. DHL uses them to contact you about import charges.
  • For large or mixed orders, contact us first at oramicin@gmail.com and we will advise you.

If the import charges are not paid

If you refuse or do not pay the import charges, DHL will return, abandon or destroy the parcel and charge the costs to us. Live plants cannot be resold after being held in customs, so in that case no refund is given for the plants, and any costs DHL charges us (unpaid import charges, storage, return shipping or destruction) are deducted from any refund. Please do not order if you are not willing to pay the import charges in your country.

Customs value

The customs invoice shows the price you paid for the products and shipping. We cannot mark parcels as gifts or declare a lower value.

Coming soon

We are working on showing EU import taxes at checkout, so you can pay them in advance and receive your parcel without extra charges.
